What is Antifreeze?

Antifreeze is a radiator fluid additive that prevents the coolant from freezing. It is made from ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, and it lowers the coolant’s freezing point to keep it from becoming ice.

The purpose of an engine cooling system is to remove excess heat produced by engine operation and control metal temperatures within safe limits. High-speed driving with today’s engines can produce enough heat energy.

Liquid cooled internal combustion engines require a circulating coolant to remove excess heat. While water is an effective heat transfer fluid, it has serious shortcomings as an engine coolant. It freezes at too low a temperature and causes corrosion of cooling system metals.

How Does Coolant Work?

Coolant Works by circulating through the engine and absorbing heat. The heat is then transferred to the radiator, where it’s dissipated.

Engine coolant is used in conjunction with a liquid cooling system, made up of

Coolant pump which circulates the coolant throughout the system

The radiator assembly conducts heat away from the coolant

Radiator hoses connecting all the parts of the cooling system

              Thermostat controlling the coolant temperature.

The coolant inside the cooling system improvises the cooling efficiency. When the engine is running, the coolant continuously circulates through the engine and returns through the radiator. Coolant is pumped through small channels in the engine block and absorbs the excess heat to control the engine temperature. When antifreeze liquid is diluted with water, it also helps lubricate the engine’s internal components.

Engine coolant antifreeze absorbs the heat from the engine and then disperses it into the air through the radiator. It also protects the engine from rusting, decreases the freezing temperature, and increasing the boiling temperature of the fluid that flows around the engine.

What is coolant made of?

A properly formulated engine coolant concentrate is composed of several essential ingredients, including base fluid, corrosion inhibitors, foam suppressors, dye, and water. Automotive coolants consist of a mixture of antifreeze with additive packages and water. These are designed to prevent corrosion and rusting.

The added inhibitors can be classified as Inorganic Acid Technology (IAT), Organic Acid Technology (OAT) or Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT).

·         OAT Coolant - It is based on organic acid technology that is used on VW Vehicles and some other automakers. OAT is not compatible with other types.

·         HOAT Coolant – It is based on Hybrid Organic Acid Technology. It is a popular coolant used in a majority of new vehicles

·         IAT Coolant - It is a crucial sensor, providing data for optimal fuel delivery and ignition timing adjustments, enhancing engine performance.

Chemtex coolant antifreeze formulations are equipped with corrosion inhibitors, safeguarding against rust and corrosion. They also prevent bio-fouling, lubricating moving parts, and provide protection for critical engine components such as the water pump, head gasket, cylinder, and pistons.

Chemtex Car Coolant comes in two variants

v  Tropical Car Coolant:   This coolant is a fusion of traditional scale and corrosion inhibitors, delivering superior performance in engine cooling. It is NAP-free and remains free from precipitation when exposed to hard water.

v  Extended Life Coolant: These coolants extend the lifespan and safeguard the internal combustion engine, reducing the need for frequent radiator coolant changes.

Acid Coil Cleaner leaves the aluminum surface clean and shining bright

Improper refrigerant levels, dirty coils, and worn out compressors or condensers can result in inefficient performance of air conditioning system. An inefficient system tends to force the compressor to work harder than is required decreasing its life span and thereby leading to higher energy bills. The primary energy required in operating an air conditioning system comes from the compression of refrigerant. The hotter the compressor receives the processed refrigerant, the more energy is necessary to force it through the condenser. The refrigerant needs to become cold enough to absorb more heat from the process, therefore an external chiller such as an open evaporative condenser or air blast unit is required. It is crucial for effective air-conditioning operation that the condenser is able to easily reject heat through the cooling airflow and the heat exchanger coils. Energy consumption builds up as the refrigerant vapor pressure increases, where the refrigerant is not sufficien...

The Role and Importance of Demulsifiers in Oil and Gas Industry

Demulsifier helps to extract oil and purify water, which is especially important in crude oil production and wastewater treatment.   It is a substance that separates an emulsion into components and destabilizes water-in-oil emulsions. In Crude production, Water-in-oil emulsions are typically produced, owing to the presence of emulsifying agents such as surfactants, slits, fine solids, drilling mud, clay, water, and other impurities. These impurities are undesirable need to be removed which would otherwise shackle the quality of the crude.   How does It work? Demulsifier consists of two liquids that are not mixed with each other and tiny droplets of one liquid are evenly distributed throughout the volume of the other. This kind of liquid is called dispersion medium, and the droplets are called dispersed phase. During the demulsification process, a demulsifier accumulates on the surface of the droplets and groups them together.   The process of separating a...
