Role of swimming pool chemicals in pool water maintenance

Commonly used for exercise, recreation, hydrotherapy, and leisure, swimming pool like any other natural water body is vital and needs regular maintenance for its longer operational ability. This swimming pool maintenance requires various physical, chemical and technological aspects to keep it free of safe, germs free and sparkling at all times and it’s not an easy task.

“Nobody likes jumping into a dirty pool”

Swimming pool is continuously filled with visibly clean but untreated water, oxidizing minerals, and other materials that might not be good for swimmer’s skin. The conditions around any pool are ideal for microbial growth, which calls for continuous monitoring. Pool water, interior and filter are three major components that need to be taken care of to keep any pool in good and swimmable condition. Now, let us understand some common issues faced by pools.

·         Pool water often gets dirty with leaves, twigs, animal droppings, insects, bugs, etc since it is mostly in open surroundings. Not only limited to it, swimmers may leave behind saliva, mucous, dead skins, etc.

·         Pool water may undergo algal bloom if not used for a long period of time. Since the water is stagnant, it may act as a breeding space for mosquitoes, insects, etc.

·         The water turns acidic, after a point of time, causing irritation to eyes, nose, and throat of swimmers, and corroding metallic components in the pool.

·         Alkalinity of pool water rises when the pH level of water rises causing skin irritation and corrosion in tiles, floors, and other pool components

Chemtex Speciality Limited, a speciality chemical manufacturer and solution provider, has an entire pool care range that has water disinfectants, algaecide, cleaners and pool maintenance chemicals.

·         Pool Chlor, TCCA 90 granules is a stable source of chlorine, is for removal of infection causing germs and bacteria that may survive in water, source being infected bathers. It is a good alternative option to oxidizing and unstable bleaching powder.

·         Pool Cide, is an organic, chlorine-free algaecide, used against green, black and mustard algal bloom.  It is rapid, and is effective even against slime formers, bacteria and other harmful germs.

·         Pool Clean, for removal of stubborn pool deposits, and calcium scaling from equipment and pool filters.

·         Pool Clear, polymer based pool clarifier, that traps suspended solids, debris, scum, and oil, leaving clean, bright, and sparkling pools.

·         Pool pH balancing chemicals, to keep the pH of pool water between 7.2 – 7.6, in a way, offsetting the adversities of low and high pH water.

Acid Coil Cleaner leaves the aluminum surface clean and shining bright

Improper refrigerant levels, dirty coils, and worn out compressors or condensers can result in inefficient performance of air conditioning system. An inefficient system tends to force the compressor to work harder than is required decreasing its life span and thereby leading to higher energy bills. The primary energy required in operating an air conditioning system comes from the compression of refrigerant. The hotter the compressor receives the processed refrigerant, the more energy is necessary to force it through the condenser. The refrigerant needs to become cold enough to absorb more heat from the process, therefore an external chiller such as an open evaporative condenser or air blast unit is required. It is crucial for effective air-conditioning operation that the condenser is able to easily reject heat through the cooling airflow and the heat exchanger coils. Energy consumption builds up as the refrigerant vapor pressure increases, where the refrigerant is not sufficien...

Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (HOAT) Coolant

Optimal use of machines is directly proportional to its engine performance. What an engine does is it converts the supplied energy into its mechanical form, driving the machine to work. Engines require one-third of total heat that is generated during conversion and the rest of the heat is needed to be evacuated from the combustion chamber which would otherwise lead to engine failure. Earlier, water was preferred as an ideal coolant for quite a period of time but the problem started to arise when the temperature would become extremely high or low, to be precise temperature more than 100 ° C and below 0°C. To get rid of this problem, coolants were formulated. Coolants are categorized chemicals that increases the boiling point of the fluid and decreases the freezing point of the fluid to make it suitable for use in extreme heat and freezing conditions. Coolants are a proportionate mixture of antifreeze and solvent, mainly glycol and water. Ideally utilized as a preventive in...
